The Shah

July 27th has always been a sad day for me and many Iranians. It's the day when the late Shah of Iran, H.I.M Mohammad Reza Pahlavi died in exile in Cairo, Egypt, in 1980.

Women's right, secular education, social and democratic reforms, basic social freedoms and a strong military were a few of his majesty's achievements between 1941 to 1979 when the mad mullahs and communists toppled his government and ruined Iran.

The late Shahanshah of Iran will always be remembered and admired by the very people he really cared for until his last moment of existence. We do salute his soul and he has to be appreciated for the services he did to our country in such a short time.

May he rests in peace!

What a sad and trajic ending to his life.
At least he didn't have to see what has become of his beloved Iran.

my parents are huge shahi'is. i saw a documentary on khomenie the other night on the history channel; the Shah TOOK SO MANY MEASURES to exile this man, shut him up, make him unknown- a pity the people didn't realize the danger of him, like the Shah did.

May HIH Prince Reza Pahlevi be retored to the Peacock Throne. I have always resented Jimmy Carter for how he abandoned the Imperial Family.

Thanks Roy for your warm wishes and I do believe that a constitutional monarchy is the best option available for Iran but I have to admit the future of the Iranian people will be determined through a free national referrendum after the regime is gone!

Winston,

You always talk about democracy, but what si strange to me is how someone who is talking about democracy can suport a monarchy. I think you may know or have heard that Shah also had MANY political prisoner, in his prisons they tortured poeple, and executed the radicals. This surely was not a democracy. That was why he was overthrown.

I think you (as well as others who support freedom) start to admit that Iran did not have freedom before or after revolution. Shah had some good points which the current government lacks, but that doesn't make it a democracy.

I've already heard your views too many times and I am sorry to say that I can't buy them.

Yes, he killed roughly 2000 terrorists, communists who wanted to overthrow his government or kidnap his family or mullahs who preached Jihad against the west. I am glad he did...

I support the late Shah of Iran, no matter what!

I stick to my conviction and support the late Shah! He has enough enemies and I'd rather be his friend!

who knows what Iran would be like if the Shah [his son] was still power. Apart of the G8? or something, most likely. The Palhavi's were very forward thinking, Iran would be quite modern and free today

Well dear... I think you have a shorter temper than me... Anyway, just so may be understand (even though you have heard it many times) I am not his enemy... At least I thought you knew that much.

What I am saying is blindly praising ANYONE is not wise. This is the problem Iranian people (including me) have. They think that any criticism is the sign of hate. It is not though. In a healthy democracy people should be free to criticize and ask for positive change.

The last point: if there is only one thing I want you understand from all I say is this....
IF HIS SUPPORTERS START ADMITING TO THE PROBLEMS THAT EXISTED BEFORE REVOLUTION, AND ADMIT THAT IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN IF THEY TAKE THE POWER (BY FREE ELECTIONS OF COURSE and the constitutional kind), THEY WILL HAVE MANY MANY MORE SUPPORTERS. BUT THE WAY THEY ARE BEHAVING NOW, WHICH IS NOT EVEN LETTING OTHERS MENTION THE PROBLEMS THAT EXISTED, I DOUBT IT HELPS THEIR CAUSE. Well... Bye,

His little problems are of the past and minor and nothing compared to that of mullahs. lets talk about today's problems and THOSE who (including communists, tudehii, cheriks, fadayees, mollahs...) brought this misery upon the Iranian nation.

In the meantime, I advocate return of his majesty's son to Iran as the constitutional ruling monarch.

I just cant think of the Shah's problems when there are others with millions of problems and dark past including those who brought this regime upon us.

I am loyal to the Shah and his family and I will always be!

one more thing I forgot to add:

I dont believe terrorists, mullahs and jihadists have any type of freedom.

They should be shot on sight.

Therefore, I believe the Shah's regime did the right thing!

May he rest in peace. Unfortunately many continue to spew the propaganda they grew up with. Having opinions does not mean you have the facts. The facts about the Shah's and his so called prisoners speak volume if one just stops being lazy and do the research and compare the progress during the Shah's era with the period before it. Before Pahlavis dynasty, Iran looked like a backward hell hole. Many people forget that. Check out how Iran looked like before the Pahlavis and then you can talk and be taken seriously.

For me, although I don't believe in monrachy, not that democracy is necessarily any better, the fact that the late Shah did not stone one person to death or had the laws on the book that crimininalized pedophilia (age of marriage was brought down to 9) is enough to forgive all his sins.

Sahar: did you know most women prisoners in Iran are the ones who were forced to marry men twice as old when they were as young 9 and when they grew up, they killed their husbands? How do you measure such a crime???

What the mullahs have done this past 27 years in terms of murder, destruction, opperssion, thievary, repression on thoughts, torture, injustice even sovereignty and independence dwarf anything that the two pahlavis did during their entire reign.

Number of people killed during the Shah's reign:

Sahar: As a democrat, you should also embrace all other groups even the monarchists. If everyone embraced the same ideas and philosophies, there would be no need for democracy.

Their Imperial Majesties - the two Great Pahlavi King's and their contributions especially Reza Shah the Great's founding of modern Iran and his son's continued modernization will never be forgotten.

28 years after the Islamists were brought to power some shameless people continue to use the propaganda full of lies which was used against the Imperial Family of Iran decades ago. The shortcomings of the Iranian Monarchy is nothing which we seek to conceal, that is why I have spoken openly about them on many internet forums with the main criticism being censorhsip imposed by SAVAK - as for enemies of the state executed during the Iranian Government before the 2nd Islamist Occupation those figures can be found on the internet and on my blog as well - endorsed even by the Islamists themselves.

Salutes to the memories of the Great Pahlavi Kings!

Like many other Jewish Iranian families, my family is a fond of SHAH. Unfortunately he has never been appreciated for all he did for Iran. NO ONE can deny that he truly loved Iran.
