Iran's Military Exercise

Mad mullahs of Iran have gone really crazy. A few days left to respond to UN resolution on their nuclear programs, they have launched a series of military war games in different parts of the country. (Pictures at ISNA, Mehr News 1, Mehr News 2)... more on this

They think they can hold off the foreign invaders with their army units which consist of poorly trained soldiers, morally wrecked commanders armed with aging weapons, but they are completely wrong. These types of exercises do not act as a deterrent to US or Israeli attacks.

As some one who served, fairly recently, in the Iranian military and raised in a military family, I'd assure you that their armed forces have no chance and ability to defend the theocratic regime in case of a massive coalition invasion. Soldiers hate the regime for forcing them to serve in a long and enduring period most call it wasteful and useless, and senior officers of the regular armed services, from the Shah era, have no desire to defend a regime which deprived them of the prosperity they used to enjoy in 1970s. Young and newly recruited officers are no better though and they are not on the same page with the mullahs. They may like the land but they are against the regime in their hearts too.

Islamic regime's military is in shambles and can not stand a US led attack for too long. That's for sure.

Ahead of August 22, Iran launches huge land, air, sea military exercises

IRNA has more / CBC has more

They may not be as powerful as the US, but their military power is as much greater than the Iranian protesters as the US's is greater than theirs.

The mullahs were once rebels themselves. They know exactly how a successful revolution is built and run, and they have yet to forget what signs to look for and what the Shah could have done to crush their rebellion before they could drive him from power.

There's nothing mystical that determines whether a revolution succeeds or fails. It's all a process, and a relatively simple one that leaves a lot of signs that can't be masked without suffocating the revolution. Only when the mullahs forget that process, or how to stop it in its tracks, will it be possible for another domestic revolution to take place.

I feel so bad for the people living there. So much fear amongst the people. Iran did do something that was good though.
They made Persian Rugs and some of them are absolutely beautiful.(Not that I can afford one)

Just thought I would should say something nice about Iran. LOL

The Iranian armed forces should do us all a favour and topple the government, if they are upset with the mullahs, why not?

They have nothing to lose, the mullahs will certainly waste their lives someday soon anyhow...

Monica, I wanted to make someone laugh with that statement. I thought Abraham was from an area southeast of Babylon? Well one thing is sure, you are Persian. I am considered a Heinz 57. I have German, English, French, American Indian and somewhere in the middle east where Adam and Eve first came to life. LOLOL

"An insurgency in Iran would be 100x worse than it is in Iraq, given Iraq's relative secular past."

But the only reason the insurgency in Iraq hasn't been crushed is because they are being supplied with weapons and troops by Iran. In fact, so many of the "insurgents" are Iranian (close to 75%) that it's more invasion than insurgency.

I think if Iran is invaded (by US troops, not Iraqi ones), nearly all the terrotism in Iraq will cease.

Out of curiosity, how does one type and post a comment in farsi/arabic? (same alphabet.) I havn't started studying yet, (I can read phoneticly without understanding) but I am interested in both languages and would like to know how they are typed.
