Senator Joe Lieberman had
this to say the other day on Defeatocrats' plan to surrender and withdraw from Iraq:
"Do my friends really believe that this is the way to convince Iraqis, and the world, of the goodness of America and Americans? Does anyone in this chamber really believe that, by announcing a date certain for withdrawal, we will empower Iraqi moderates, or enable Iraq's reconstruction, or open more schools for their children, or more hospitals for their families, or freedom for everyone?"
"Let me be absolutely clear: In my opinion, Iraq is not yet lost—but if we follow this plan, it will be. And so, I fear, much of our hope for stability in the Middle East and security from terrorism here at home."
I really like Joe Lieberman for his honesty! Too bad he's a lefty...

Well atleast it shows that there can be some hope for the left :)
You support American troops being in Iraq to establish a democracy and consider this action to be an act of liberation. Therefore, I would like to ask you, Winston: Would you feel the same way if those American troops moved east into Iran?
You seem to favor American troops in Iraq--would you feel the same way about American troops in Iran?
He has to be the smartest lefty out there...how long will they let him talk like this, I wonder?
hidden author,
first I'd say the Iranian issue doesn't need to be solved militarily and there are very better means to overthrow the Iranian mullahs from within. But if it comes to the point where, like Saddam, Mullahs do something to harm the people of the world then YEAH I'll be in favor of a military operation against the clerics.
The mullahs are more of a threat than Saddam was. Saddam's war machine and industrial complex was broken by America in the 1991 war. On the other hand, Ahmadinejad openly bragged, "With great honor, I declare that as of today our dear country has joined the nuclear club of nations and can produce nuclear fuel on an industrial scale."
Remeber Ayotollah Khomeini's Grandson's words to Hitchens a few years ago?
The best outcome, he thought, would be a very swift and immediate American invasion of Iran.
