Rice

Condi Rice says US doesn't seek regime change in Iran:
"It (regime change) was not the policy of the US government. The policy was to have a change in regime behaviour,"
And then you get to read this piece:

One can only hope that the Bush Administration will cut off the Iran funds now being channeled through the State Department and begin supporting the majority of Iranians who do not want reform but who are instead desperate for real regime change. And hopefully this will happen before the theocracy is armed with nuclear weapons.

And you wonder who is who... I hate this nonesense of trying to change Iranian regime behavior. It never works! Does Condi Rice get it?

I am hoping she is just saying that in Public to calm Iran's regime, since they need their help in Iraq for now.

" Diplomacy is the art of saying "nice doggie!" until you find a stone" (...)
Swallow your anger for now, lets see what happens next!

I'd agree that there's a good chance that Condi gets it, but I won't agree to swallow my anger. If Condi gets it, she'd want everyone outside of government to give their anger full throat. The regime has said that it can't negotate with anyone whose express desire is the regime's elimination. The EU has bought that crap, and wants the US to negotiate with the regime "in good faith." Crap. Crap. Crap. If the regime can't negotiate with those who want to do away with it, why should the US negotiate with a regime that holds confernces to "imagine a world without the US."

Unfortunately this is real politik. I highly doubt she likes the Iranian government, but she doesnt want to start a shit slinging contest in the media, you know? She's got a tough job.
