Sick

I have been so sick that I couldn't write much in the past 2-3 days. But some times being sick means you can learn a lot about the politics of the country you live in.

Health care system is one of those issues that you don't learn much about until, unfortunately, you get sick and need medical attention. Therefore when dealing with medical professionals you can really appreciate the truth behind the so-called "free health care system" of Canada. But it also makes me angry to see anti-American film-makers (read opportunists) such as Michael Moore wants to make us believe that Canadian or non-American health care for that matter, is better than the American one.

Okay, to cut the story short, I'd just say that I have never been satisfied with the level of medical care I have got here in Canada. To get to see a doctor for a simple flu, I had to wait for more than two hours because there was just one doctor available and the first doctor who saw me on campus ASKED ME if I had fever. I had to tell him that had I known about my fever myself, I wouldn't bother to come here in the first place.

I remember my colleague from my previous work place whose husband had a serious problem with his heart and they couldn't do much for him in this country so she had to sell their home, move to the States for a few months to have her beloved husband treated south of the border.

Canadian health care system is really crap....
