Show Your Gratitude

First off, I'm sorry for being away for a day or two.

Second, I'm witnessing that the people of world literally have come to the aid of our compatriots in Iran through any which way they can. Some decent individuals in the mainstream media and almost every one on the social networking websites have literally been on our side. This type of support could have only materialized if Iran was struck by a natural disaster (Actually the Iranian regime has always been a disaster). We shouldn't forget this incredible show of support and solidarity. We must show our gratitude to these people who at our hour of need came to our rescue. This is a very important matter. A big deal!

I've seen people writing to European companies working with the Iranian regime, like Nokia, Siemens, Shell... on behalf of us urging them to stop cooperating with the murderers. I have had friends calling the White House urging the sitting coward in there to be more forceful on mullahs. I have witnessed first hand when people on twitter and facebook got upset by watching the videos showing the regime brutality. I have had people donating money to this weblog. I've received encouraging emails & calls of solidarity and appreciation from 4 corners of the world. All these are our capital in the long war against the mullahs. Do not let this go to waste! We earned it and we should keep it as a valuable asset in our arsenal.

The mullahs have dug their graves. They'll go away sooner or later. I've no doubt about that and we all know that truth finally prevails. What matters now is not to alienate our world wide supporters but to embrace and employ them. This is our strength. Mullahs have no base of support in this world. Yes, China and Russia still buy their oil but that's about it. Remember to thank your local friends in your home/host countries and tell them that their support goes a long way. When you make calls to your relatives in Iran, tell them that the whole world is behind their cause. Make sure to encourage those who live under the occupying regime of Iran not to give up hope. This is going to be a long war....

One person above all who needs to be mentioned is Andrew Sullivan. His Daily Dish blog has been consistently pro-Iranian and has been reporting the uprising relentlessly and in great detail. Just today he's posted a video of a song dedicated to Iran.

I know he's been all over the place politically these past few years, and I know he has a beef with neo-cons and absolutely worships Obama (yuck!), but it's only fair to show our gratitude for his support and continued efforts in helping the Iranian cause.

I for one can't thank him enough.

Correct but his political bias was always there. I couldn't stand him taking shots at this or that and couldnt stand him inserting his leftist bias in between the reportings. Even though he linked to my blog twice during the pro-Danish cartoon rallies in March/April 2005 in North America.

Andrew Sullivan is simply awful, he only does it to get hits and the bias throughout was yeauch. HuffPo runs bad stuck-up liberal drivel of editorial but it's live blog as been consistently the best out there without any particular bias at all. The Guardian blog was good and it's current focus on putting faces to the names is a great way to keep focus even if their political bias sucks. No, by far and away the most compelling blogs on this have been Winston's and Azamehr's and lately Tehran Bureau - plus the tweeters themselves - without whom this issue would never have seen the light of day in most blogs and msm without a blinkered view of Iran maintained through Amahdi's prism. I only recently found a connection between my family and Persia after my father recently passed which has added to the hurt of watching it all unfold. But without knowing that I have always known that this great nation and people were deserving of nothing less than the freedom they have LONG deserved and fought for these years and it's great to see so many people keeping this all alive and focused and the momentum for change and connection with them, out there.

This goes beyond politics. Here in the US, people of all political views are standing with Sea of Green.

Only way the west and USA can help the people and democracy in Iran is to institute fuel and refined petroleum sanctions immediately. Yhis will expedite the IRI's fall. But is there political will and courage in the west? Or is it more convenient and beneficial to have a big war down the road?

^^I agree, both have done a great job.

"Just today he's posted a video of a song dedicated to Iran."

^^I hadn't seen this yet until now. Glad you mentioned it. I have liked a few of "Andy's" Persian songs in the past, so it's cool to see him doing this kind of video with Jon Bon Jovi. The Persian lyrics were beautiful....

"Ma ki hastim!" (I think I said that right)

I agree with you. Will the Free World's moral compass point the West toward supporting the Iranian people via economic boycotts? Or will they ignore this all together and keep it business as usual? Even today, the New York Times reported that while the European Union threatens to pull diplomatic ties with the IRI, Germany is "taking a cautious position" since they are the biggest trade partner with Iran. Let's see which way their moral compass will point.

I am humbled. We are wearing green wristbands at our Tea Party Saturday, and we will also be having a moment of silence for the protesters and political prisoners. Godspeed.

On the 4th of July, I will have a green ribbon flying with my American flag, and I'll have a green ribbon wrapped around my arm.

God bless the courageous people of Iran, and the brave people who bring their stories to the world!

My heart goes out to the good people in Iran. I hope they find the strength to continue to fight, as long as it takes, for freedom.

I'm so grieved to hear the atrocities done to the protesters in Iran. Don't give up.
