What they want is....

This is a quick note a friend of mine sent me yesterday from inside of Iran (for which I'm providing a literal translation here). She said this is what the public want in Iran today:
"If we're to witness the slaughter, torture and rape of our brothers and sisters in regime's jails, then we're ready to accept the price of a military attack. We should say to Mr. Obama that we are ready for war if it results in destruction of these predators. That war will not be a crime in the name of religion and we won't suffer on a daily basis any more under the rule of the brutal Mullahs. Do we not wish that our "Saddams" would be toppled too? Do we not want that fate? This regime can only understand the language of force. "Green Movement" is a game that will only prolong the life of the regime and will add to death and mayhem of our people."

To put in perspective the destruction brought about by Islamic republic in the past thirty one years, one has to try to calculate it by how many nuclear weapons would have been able to do the same amount of damage. Add the mayhem, deaths, destruction, confiscation of private property and brain drain at the beginning of the revolution, to the unnecessary war with Iraq and the ongoing savage crackdown, executions, torture and rape of different segments of the society and opposition. Mismanagement of and destruction of natural resources, infrastructure and industries. Destruction of the fabric of society with narcotics. Promotion of ignorance through mass media. Purging basic human rights. Nepotism.....

I think if we add the economic and social cost of all the damage our revolutionary forefathers brought us with the Islamic revolution, we have sustained damage to come close to approximately ten nuclear attacks similar to the size of the one's dropped on Nagasaki or Hiroshima.
