Incredible picture from Iran

It is Tehran, Iran!

Needless to say that satellite dishes and receivers are completely banned in Iran by the Islamic regime, yet the people risk their lives and safety using them to get info and news from outside sources.

WOW! Look at all the dishes! LOL.
I guess they haven't been cracking down much lately!
Looks like regime has given up.

Maybe the dishes in themselves are not illegal. And since when does Iran have satellite technology?

I've seen this photo before and I don't believe it's from Tehran. In fact that hill/mountain in the background does not resemble the surroundings of Tehran...

It's good to see that Iranians aren't getting ripped off by cable companies!

And that they can pick up satellite signals from some of the many countries that orbit satellites.

Aryamehr, I think I can see a typical Iranian made Peykan vehicle in bottom of the picture.
However, having said that it is a fact that millions of Iranians use satellite dishes to get info from other sources and that they dont trust mullahs made news 100%.

anonymous, you need to read more about Iran.

Oh i'm not disputing that many people in Iran have "illegal dishes"...that's why the Islamic Republic announces raids on homes to confiscate "illegal dishes" every month or so!!!

But in regards to the picture i don't think it's Tehran...if it is the photo must be photoshopped! I honestly can't believe that there are so many dishes in the view of the authorities! Last time I was in Tehran everyone hid their dishes under nets and other camoflauging material so that the authorities didn't bother them...

Toronto isn't as bad for satellite dishes but getting close. With very few satellite providers in canada offering international channels, thanks to the CRTC, its no wonder. People here in canada and Iran find it easier to "steal" the satellite signal!!!
