- "President Pantywaist's enemies are taking his measure and they are liking what they see. Perhaps, in some Macchiavellian way, Obama thinks the appointment to the Supreme Court of a Latina woman of apparent bias, who seems unlikely to find in favour of a white male American, will either appease or frighten his foes. I have never seen or heard any evidence that Jimmy Carter was anti-semitic. Can you show any?
Yep, read his books. ;-)
JDG:
I almost never call anyone an antisemite because in today's world, doing that is a crime worse than being one. Still, Carter raises suspicions due to the virulence of his anti-Israelism.
Deborah Lipstadt makes a case here:

My favourite was his response to the Simon Wiesnthal Center after they lobbied their email list regarding inaccuracies in his Apartheid book. I followed the story at the time. It's well described here:

"I don't believe Simon Wiesenthal would have resorted to falsehood and slander to raise funds," Carter wrote last month in a handwritten letter to the head of the human rights center that bears the name of the late Holocaust survivor and Nazi hunter. The petition does not require payment to be sent, though Carter's letter suggests it is being used as a fundraising tool.
