Egypt

As Egypt is going through turmoil and revolt, Obama is facing his own "Jimmy Carter moment" 31 yrs later. The crises in Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon and Iran have made Obama look like an incompetent and clueless man.

The problem is that the crisis in Egypt might even allow the radical Islamist groups like Muslim Brotherhood to do to Egypt what Khomeinists did to Iran back in 1979-1980. The Iranian regime at the same time seems to be vocal about its support for the ongoing crisis in Egypt. I am of the belief that the Iranian regime might very well be behind this. The ramifications are so great that it can't be ignored. What happens to Israel if the Egypt, Yemen, Lebanon et al are taken over by openly anti-Israeli movements? It is scary to realize that the guy (the leader of the free world) in the White House is a clueless man with no leadership skills or crisis management skills.

Its about time the dirty totalitarian US puppets collapse.

Whatever replaces them, will surely be better than the status quo.

and Winston, why do you care so much about Israel? Aren't you Iranian?

Muslim brotherhood will be better than Mubarak? hah?

I am a pro-Israeli Iranian. Did you not read my blog bio before opening your silly mouth?

Winston, I hope you're wrong about Iran. My gut tells me this is a wholely made in Egypt (with inspiration from Tunisia) revolution. Something of this magnitude and this fluid cannot be either orchestrated or controlled by a foreign state. Hell, even the Egyptian state has lost control.

And I hope you're correct.

Hosni Mubarak has been losing support from the west over the last few years. In the least, he has received a very sobering wake up call. I just hope and pray that in no form or shape religious figures or groups would have any influence on the future of Egyptian government. I miss Anwar Sadat.

What could be worse than ElBaradei?

Jay could not be more correct that Mohammed ElBaradei is a menace. He is more responsible than any non-Iranian for the progress the mullahs have made on their nuke program (with dishonorable mention to China and Russia) — although I think another Egyptian, Yasser Arafat, may have been a worse Nobel choice. I also agree that, under the circumstances, Egypt could do worse than having ElBaradei running its government.

We are beginning to see take shape, though, the something that could be worse than ElBaradei: ElBaradei in collusion with the Muslim Brotherhood.

I'm the last person you would expect to defend Ă˜bama, but I think his silence is the correct thing to do. It shows he does not support Mubarak and therefore hopes the rebels will succeed but he is hedging his bets in case Mubarak crushes the rebellion, thus preserving the relationship. I hope the rebels understand and appreciate this.

Now, when the same thing was going on in Iran, silence was the worst thing he could do. Iran had been America's enemy for many years. Open support for that government's opposition should have been a given.
