Update on Iran's protests

The major protests have died down a bit but the tension still exists and I am hearing that the stand-off between the militant Basijis (armed militia of the regime - thugs) and students at different Tehran university campuses is still there.

However, Amir Kabir university bulletin informs us that the Iranian regime has banned the media from reporting the protests and also tried to dub the anti-regime protests as an internal tension between the regime funded reformist students and militants. Therefore media were asked to withdraw their past news stories as well.

The campuses are under seige and no one can either enter or leave the area and the situation is described as "tight police state".

This Persian language weblog keeps us updated and I will keep posting as they update their blog as well.

Iran press news informs us about a 30,000 man strong protest against the regime is going on in the city of Marand near Tabriz in NW of the country.

Slogans against the regime - Read it and spread the word please!

Shahram has a similar update too

I will add to this as I get more fresh info via my friends and contacts inside of Iran. Stay tuned....

Careful not to get in the way, Bush and Blair emphasized their great respect for the Iranian people and the merely threatened Iran with isolation not bombing. Bush:

What will the students do if the US takes out the nuclear sites? That is the question of the hour. Opinions are needed on this issue.

God be with you in your resistance to the mullahs. I wish our media was picking up on this and reporting on it. This should be headline news.

Reports have to reach every Iranian even if the Regime's Media has banned it. Blogs, newspapers, leaflets, phones, everything needs to be utilized.

Thank you for the updates. I am watching closely. I pray you are right. After all, this is the place where the '79 overthrow of the government occurred...

I'm afraid I have to agree with Joseph. According to Gary Sick, the IRI is in full control and they are extremely brutal and immoral. This coming from the IRI's apologist.
