Teachers Again

There are confirmed reports of another recent demonstrations by thousands of teachers in Tehran on Tuesday. This time around 10,000 angry teachers gathered in front of the Islamic regime's assembly to express their frustration with the current problems they face on a daily basis. This huge gathering started from 11:00 am and lasted until 5:00 pm. These gov't em,ployees have threatened to bring their students to the future rallies if their demands are not met properly in the due time. And a teachers' strike is possible any time in the city of Tehran.

The demonstrators called on Iranian Education Minister to resign, claiming that he was concerned about obtaining nuclear energy rather than about their livelihood. They also called on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to keep the promises he made during his election campaign and one of the slogans of the protesters was "Fake Promises Make Us Full Of Hatred".

Mr. Michael Ledeen has more on his weblog. Here are some pictures of the protests

I'll have more on the teachers' protests as soon as I get additional information from my sources in Iran.

In the meantime, women's rights activists who were detained by regime's security forces are on hunger strike Italian based AKI reports.

Update 1: Teachers and school instructors have continued the protests in front of Majlis for the 5th consecutive day and regime is getting nervous about it, BBC Persian report.

Iran women arrested over protest and we're also hearing that Iranian regime has arrested several journalists
