Gutless and clueless

It's safe to say that Obama has been the most gutless, the most clueless of modern US presidents since Jimmy Carter.

Saudis recalling their ambassador from Syria while Obama went on to play golf right after the recent financial downgrade of American credit ratings. He has done nothing to stop the massacre in Syria or to finish the mission in Libya. Will he deserve to be re-elected in 2012? I hope not. I hope he suffers a devastating defeat in the upcoming elections next year.

I am not an American, I don't live in the States and I am an outsider. But to me, it seems this man doesn't care. He doesn't get the basic things. What's his major malfunction? So weird!

Mark Steyn's recent column is worth reading on this matter.

Winston,

You are 100 percent correct about Obama. He is a gutless president. The reason he is not taking the lead is because he views American influence as a negative thing in the world. There is a good analysis of Obama's worldview in an article called "The Obama Doctrine Defined" by Douglas Feith.

Here is what Sharon Power, an assistant to Obama, wrote in the New Republic in 2003:

"U.S. foreign policy has to be rethought. It needs not tweaking but overhauling….Instituting a doctrine of mea culpa would enhance our credibility by showing that American decision-makers do not endorse the sins of their predecessors. When [then German Chancellor] Willie [sic] Brandt went down on one knee in the Warsaw ghetto, his gesture was gratifying to World War II survivors, but it was also ennobling and cathartic for Germany. Would such an approach be futile for the United States?"

This is the worldview of people advising Obama. Equating the foreign policy of the United States since WWII with Nazi Germany.

A Lebanese politician, Samir Geagea predicted that Obama would be an appeaser. He said Obama's victory in 2008 was a victory for the pro Islamic Republic/Syria/Hezbollah March 8 coaltion. Here is what he said after Obama won in 2008.

However, minutes before entering the conference room where the national dialogue session was taking place at the Baabda Palace, Lebanese Forces boss Samir Geagea said that "the March 8 Forces' candidate" had won the US vote.

"The March 8 Forces' candidate won the US election," he told reporters when asked his opinion on the election results.

Geagea, a member of the governing March 14 coalition, had earlier this year criticized Obama's proposed policy of holding direct talks with states perceived as America's enemies, such as Syria and Iran. The LF boss said in an interview in March that "nothing can come out of dialogue" with Damascus.
