Disappointment over the nuke talks continue

I mentioned earlier that the US offer of talks to the Iranian mullahcracy is a big disappointment at a time when thousands of Iranians are showing their anger towards the clerical establishment and this was like a stabbing in the back though.

Michael Rubin of AEI does share the same opinion in an interview with ABC Australia that any negotiation or offer of talks will make the mad mullahs more defiant and look good inside of Iran and weaken the poor people of Iran who have to bear the regime.

MICHAEL RUBIN:
Well, on the one hand this goes to the whole nature of one step forward, two steps back.
    ...
The question is: what happens if six months later they get up and walk away? We've already signalled to the Iranian people that we're not with them anymore, and it will be hard for us to step back.
That is basically what I thought. Yep, the US government wants to say to the world, in near future, that the Iranian regime was dealt with diplomatically and now that all diplomatic solutions are exhausted, we have no other way but to go to UN Security Council and sanction those bastard mullahs once and forever and then bomb them to hell. Right?

MICHAEL RUBIN:
The real problem isn't the Iranian people. The real problem is that the Iranian Government isn't accountable to the people.

What would I suggest? We should be supporting independent trade unions. We should be supporting independent press. We should be trying to make the Islamic Republic more accountable to its own people [????]. That's the way out of the situation.
The idea of making Islamic regime more accountable is just like what reformers wanted to do and I guess Mr. Rubin haven't already realized that the Iran's state reforms didn't work and those naive ideas of the reformollahis to help moderate the regime of butchers and murderers were not in place to actually achieve any thing. It was all about the prolonging the life of mad mullahs, and it was nothing more than that and that is why many people call those Islamic regime's cheaters "Reformollahis" like Hezbollahis.

Any way, I am still disappointed over this stupid offer of negotiations, but we'll see who was wrong on this one.

Updated: See what regime propagandists have to say about this! That is why there shouldn't be any talks between the US and the Mullahs. It just proves that Mullahs are looking at this as a weak move by the Americans.

Sack the bastards before they sack us!

Update 1: Michael Rubin has published this on National Review Online

According to Condi Rice, this is a final offer before isolation tactics begin. That's my understanding from listening to her press conference.

I believe that we have a strict plan with strict rules that Iran must abide by, so that they can't just say they'll go along with the agreement, and then not do so. The White House will not let the regime get away with that and waste time. Been there, done that. The regime is going to need to follow strict rules, no shenanigans. I think at the first sign of non-cooperation, the deal's off.

I think this is a diplomatic 'show'. No one believes the regime is going to agree, but it's necessary to go thru the motions and the hoops, in order to show other countries that we bent over backwards trying to get Iran to comply and they refused. But I think this is on a fast track, so Iran won't be able to stall for months.

If the regime is allowed to stall and appear as though they're in control or making the rules, it will have been a mistake to do this.
I don't think we're going to allow that. I think the rules of the game have already been set and the regime will have to take it or leave it.
We'll see.

This offer is made in the expectation that the clowns running Iran will not accept it. Refusal makes Iran look extreme and suspicious, making the offer makes the US look reasonable. It paves the way for sanctions and then removal of the regime.

Iran will never have a nuke, and if they do develop one they will be very sorry that they did. That's the bottom line, so the mullahs had better wake up and smell the coffee.

the question is: what will the average Iranian do when the US bombs the nuke facilities? I suspect about 1 out of 20 would support such action.
