Updated I: I got an email from an American friend noting this alleged gaffe by Sen. McCain on the troop increase in Iraq and has called me biased. Well, first of all, I am biased for sure. I have a special bias against the Democrats in the US and defeatist Republicans who want to weaken the US standing around the world. This is not a newspaper. I am an individual blogger with my own agenda. I hope that's clear. As for McCain's alleged gaffe, I am sorry to upset my friend. The Anbar Awakening, as explained by Michael Yon was a by-product of the Surge in 2007. Sunni Iraqis, tired of Al-Qaeda's vicious tactics, came to energized Americans for help. Without the surge, the Anbar Awakening would not have born fruit at all. I thought I should make these clear. The whole point here is that the Democrats and Obama can't claim the credit for the success in Iraq now. they opposed it and they can't have the credit for it. Sorry!

UPDATE: An Obama spokesman tells CNN “it was his bill, not his committee,” referring to the Iran Sanctions Enabling Act that the Illinois senator sponsored and introduced in May 2007. The measure was then referred to the Banking Committee, and passed a vote of 19-2 on July 17.
I knew his campaign would find another excuse for his gaffes. I'm not buying it
If Obama is elected to office world will be in chaos, if McCain is elected in office world will be a safe place for everyone.
63% Say Trip Does Not Make Obama More Fit to be President

I think he has made a bad mistake, first for acting as though the American people have already voted for him (big insult to the American voter) and secondly, for peeking too soon. The magical mystery tour will be ancient history by the time the election comes around. Plus he's shown very clearly what a flip flopper he is.
I'd be very surprised if his messiah status hasn't been completely washed away by all the gaffs and contradictions he's uttered while on this trip and I think the media has finally begun to realize how pathetically fawning they themselves have been. The only supporters left in the pews will be the "pity poor us, we're such eternal victims of racism" crowd.
My prediction: the first Black president will be a republican, cause he/she won't be a whiner.
I have to disagree with you on this one, Winston. The Sunni Awakening began in the Fall of 2006. The Surge troops didn't start arriving until the Spring of 2007. Neither effort was dependent on the other for success, but each one's individual success was achieved more quickly because of the existence of the other. To me, the big story is that, even if he had known what a success the Surge would be, Obama would not have voted for it. That, my friends, is the definition of pigheadedness.
Oof. peaking not peeking
There must be some sort of Freudian thing there. LOL!!
