Favorite Prayer

I am not a religious or spiritual person. Never been one, as far as I know. But I know so many people who read this blog believe in the power of prayer and I think my favorite prayer, if I could say that, is the one ordered by General Patton during the Battle of the Bulge during the 2nd world war:
"Almighty and most merciful Father, we humbly beseech Thee, of Thy great goodness, to restrain these immoderate rains with which we have had to contend. Grant us fair weather for Battle. Graciously hearken to us as soldiers who call upon Thee that, armed with Thy power, we may advance from victory to victory, and crush the oppression and wickedness of our enemies and establish Thy justice among men and nations".
Though this is a weather prayer but I thought it might fit the situation in Iran today. I hope those who believe in power of prayer enjoy this one and I hope this gives strength to those who are going through these difficult times across Iran. I'll do anything to empower those who are fighting this evil monster in Iran in the front-lines. This has been a tough day.....

Winston,
You do not need to ask for prayer---many, many people are already praying for the people of Iran tonight. Though I am not Muslim, I pray for the people of Iran, that they may have their freedom, because I believe that God wants all of His people to be free.

Video just on CNN showing night invasions of homes. I became sick to my stomach seeing this. I am not a spiritual or religious person myself, but I think more than ever, they need prayer, hope, encouragement, anything. Iranians need their voice, and we outside Iran need to be their voice.

Iranians have lived under a terrorist regime for 30 yrs. Enough is enough!

I don't pray either.
But that's a good one and fitting.

Her name was Neda.
Never forget.
Her name was Neda.
I pray that the rule of the Mullahs will die with her.

There cannot be any turning back after so much of our innocent compatriots' blood being shed. This movement has to and will continue until complete victory.

Is Mousavi a true reformer? Will he bring a Western-style government to Iran? Will he stop the nuclear program and seek peace with Israel and the United States? Or is he just another side to the same Iranian Islamic-supremacist, Jew-hating, America-hating coin as is Ahmadinejad?

If that is all he is, then I care not a whit about the outcome of this election, whether it be fraudulent or legitimate.

Hi Anonymous, one of my friends asked that same question recently, and this is what I told him: Mousavi was picked by the regime as well; only an INCREDIBLY small portion of the candidates who wish to run are actually allowed, by the Supreme leader Khamenei, to run. I don't know for sure whether or not Mousavi is as radical as Ahmadinejad; from what he SAYS, he is not quite as radical, because he supports some reforms in certain areas. Nonetheless, he is part of the Islamic regime and was allowed to run by the tyrant in charge, and so I wouldn’t trust him regardless of what he says. However, this really isn’t about the election anymore, this is about the Iranian people’s fervent desire to have the ENTIRE regime removed.
“This incipient revolution is no longer about the election. Obama totally misses the point. The election allowed the political space and provided the spark for the eruption of anti-regime fervor that has been simmering for years and awaiting its moment. But people aren’t dying in the street because they want a recount of hanging chads in suburban Isfahan. They want to bring down the tyrannical, misogynist, corrupt theocracy that has imposed itself with the very baton-wielding goons that today attack the demonstrators." –Iran: The Biggest Domino by Dan McLaughlin

I heard that a policeman's body was set on fire. Is that confirmed? There was a video last night on tv showing a woman trying to protect someone who had been ripped from his motorcycle. The announcer said his body was later burned. I hope things do not descend into a pit of senseless violence.

Now everyone can see what we have gone through everyday under the evil Islamic regime.

Anonymous, this is no longer about the election. This is about freedom from this brutal regime that has tortured the Iranian people for 30 years. Some have shouted "Death to Khamenei." Iranians, through technology, are revealing to the world like never before the brutality of this regime. They want change, dignity, and freedom, and Mousavi just happened to be the posterchild of change. Now, Neda has become the face of freedom.

Azadi, "freedom," is what this is about.

The death toll is much higher than reported.
Was able to finally speak to a friend in Mirdamad district of Tehran and says only in that neighborhood fifteen people have been killed.

I think 150 were killed in Tehran alone yesterday

I do believe in the power of prayer. Thanks for posting the prayer as it is inspirational. I am praying and I must say, I am identifying greatly with the Iranians. I am so amazed at the strong women. And Neda is a powerful example of this.
I also pray for you personally to be refreshed in strength as you toil on getting the word out. You are providing a needed resource. You are a warrior in this battle!
