Meaningless Obama

Dr. Krauthammer: “The regime is weakening. This is a hinge in history. Everything in the region will change if the regime is changed. Obama ought to be strong out there in saying it’s an illegitimate government; we stand shoulder to shoulder with the people in the street. When he talks about diplomacy he should be urging our Western allies to that have relations to cut them off. He ought to be going into the UN every forum denouncing it. This is a moment in history and he’s missing it.“

Amen. Today the news most disgusting. They actually believe those people are there (pro-govt) for that rally because they want to be, that only 8 ppl were killed (I've heard up to 45, but mostly it's 10-15), only 500 in prison (1500-2000), etc. ObamaMedia is so incompetent. It makes me sick.

Another blowhard who does not have an ensemble of understanding of the occurring events in Iran. You have to put everything into perspective; Obama is the president of the U.S. whose job is to advance this country's interest set by the ongoing foreign policies. Even though, as a collective crowd of freedom-seekers, we hope that the certain cascade of events lead to the down fall of the Iranian regime, it is far different when you are a head of a nation and has to maneuver in this maze of diplomatic intricacies.

Second, and once again, it appears that the majority of people are caught up in a whirlwind of reactionary brouhaha that somehow has projected this notion that the "entire" country is convulsing in a revolutionary mood--far from it. A mere "tens of thousands" does not embody 70 million side-liners and fence sitters. Not to diminish this relatively small group of people's courage and undeniable moxie to confront the regime head on, but try to put things in context. The president of the United States should not meddle in this conflict when knowing full well that the opposition, at this very moment and foreseeable future, does not have a juice to inflect a blowing strike.

Nonetheless, as global citizens, we have an obligation to support a peaceful transition from tyranny to democratic entity which respects freedom of speech and expression. Obama's latest speech was perfect in its deliverance and content where it did not appear to be intrusive nor docile. You do not wish to give an oft-drunk on prevarication regime more ammunition to associate the protesters, which in its core is in infancy, to foreign interventionism. The ultimate goal is to convert as many of those who have avoided the confrontation to join the movement not to dissuade them through propagation of a notion that this is being orchestrated by the external forces.
